Andrew Reed Gallery is excited to announce Standstill a solo exhibition of new works by Colorado-based artist Patricia Geyerhahn. This is the artist’s second solo show with the gallery and first in Miami. The exhibition opens Saturday, September 20th with an opening reception from 6-8pm and will be on view through October 18th.
According to Geyerhahn: “These works depict surreal, somewhat apocalyptic scenes. The title of the show calls to mind both the stillness in the midst of movement present in some images, as well as the sense that we have reached a point where there is no more moving forward on this path, so we must instead shift our strategy. The time-halting aspect of the images — along with the strange, surreal imagery — allows the viewer to approach these alarming paintings with less fear and hostility and instead invites contemplation. The smaller works are less direct with their imagery, inviting a quieter, more discerning contemplation. Their isolated symbols still speak of the same message as the larger works, but in a more poetic, subtle manner.”
